Dr. Russ Jones is a licensed clinical psychologist in Virginia. He received his M.Ed. in Community Counseling from the University of Georgia, and his M.A and Ph.D. in Counseling Psychology from the University of Maryland, College Park. Dr. Jones completed his internship at the Washington D.C. Veterans Affairs Medical Center. Prior to graduate school, he served in the Army.
Dr. Jones has experience working in a variety of mental health settings including a short-term juvenile detention center, substance abuse outpatient clinic, university counseling center, community mental health center, and Veterans Affairs Medical Center. Dr. Jones provides psychotherapy to adults presenting with a wide range of mental health concerns including coping with trauma, substance use, depression, anxiety, and grief and loss. Dr. Jones also provides cognitive assessments for children and adolescents. Dr. Jones has a strong psychodynamic background, but is also adept in incorporating cognitive-behavioral approaches into his practice.
