Asia Sykes-Fernando, PsyD.

With training in evidence-based treatments and experience across a wide range of settings, I specialize in trauma psychology and psychological assessment. I work with children, adults, and families, with particular expertise in women’s health, severe mental illness, and supporting Veterans. My goal is to help clients build resilience and create lasting change.

Although I am in the early stages of my career as a licensed clinical psychologist, I bring extensive training in evidence-based treatments. I earned my undergraduate degree from the College of William and Mary in Virginia and my doctorate in clinical psychology from Midwestern University in Downers Grove, IL.

Over the past decade, I have worked with diverse populations in both urban and suburban settings, spanning a wide range of socioeconomic backgrounds. My experience includes providing psychotherapy and neuropsychological assessment in private hospitals, academic medical centers, primary care clinics, private practices, Veterans Affairs Medical Centers, and Federal Health Care Centers. I’ve had the privilege of supporting people in residential, inpatient, outpatient, and partial hospitalization programs, and these experiences have strengthened my commitment to culturally informed, individualized care.

I am licensed in the state of Virginia and am working toward board certification in clinical psychology. Above all, I strive to create a safe, collaborative, and empowering therapeutic space where you can feel heard, supported, and equipped to move forward.
