Dr. Marty Martin is a licensed clinical psychologist who specializes in behavioral sleep medicine (BSM), working to improve the sleep of everyone from adolescents through older adults. He uses evidence-based treatment including Cognitive Behavior Therapy for Insomnia (CBTI) and Brief Behavioral Treatment for Insomnia (BBTI).
As a performance psychologist, he helps entrepreneurs, top athletes, musicians, physicians and executives overcome obstacles to high performance from performance anxiety to rebounding from setbacks. In this work, Dr. Martin also works with groups and teams seeking to bring out the individual and collective best of all.
Since the financial crisis of 2009, Dr. Martin has applied what he learned in his MS in Financial Planning to helping clients overcome money disorders, money worries, and problematic financial behaviors such as not saving enough for retirement or spending too much. In this work, he also works with couples who are “not on the same page” regarding money, saving and investments in their relationship.
Dr. Martin earned a MSc in behavioral sleep medicine from the University of Glasgow and a PsyD from Rutgers University. He served as a postdoctoral fellow in Primary Health Care Psychology at St. Joseph Hospital in Flint, Michigan. Dr. Martin is a native Washingtonian who attended Burgundy Farms Country Day School in Alexandria and then Gonzaga College High School.
Dr. Martin has provided workshops and consultation on topics related to stress, sleep, performance and burnout with startups, technology firms, and Fortune 500 corporations including McDonald’s and Walgreens.
