Dr. Gene Shooter, Jr. received his Ph.D. in Counseling Psychology from Texas Tech University in 1993. Prior to graduate school he was an adult probation officer and also was a volunteer for a local domestic violence shelter program. He is licensed as a clinical psychologist in Hawaii and Virginia.
Dr. Shooter has experience in working with people who suffer from serious and persistent mental illness (e.g. schizophrenia and bipolar disorders) through working in a community mental health center in Hawaii. He also received a Certificate in Neuropsychology in 2009 from Fielding Graduate University. He performs neuropsychological assessments.
Dr. Shooter focuses his private practice on individual adult and adolescent psychotherapy and couples counseling. He primarily uses cognitive-behavioral techniques. His therapy caseload is currently full and his practice is currently limited to new psychological/neuropsychological testings and forensic assessments only.
